Commercial Lead

Full Time • Fully Remote - US

The job in one sentence

Build Lancea’s revenue engine from the ground up: design and run the full sales cycle, own the client relationship post-sale, turn early adopters into lifelong evangelists, and hire and develop the team that scales it all.

About Lancea

Lancea is an early-stage, fast-growth start-up building human-in-the-loop, AI-powered tools to address strategic communications challenges in today’s contested information space.  We work with corporate communications teams, PR agencies, public sector organizations, and public affairs professionals to enable them to develop and execute high-stakes messaging campaigns.

We are also a registered Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), and balance profit with our public benefit mission: to responsibly develop and ethically provide advanced communications tools designed to strengthen civil society, democratic institutions, and open public discourse.  Learn more about us.

You’ll be joining our company at an exciting moment, as we move from a successful MVP early access program and launch our full V1 platform in the broader market.  We already have initial clients, ongoing negotiations, and an enviable pipeline, but we want you to take us to the next level: we’ll be looking to you to build and direct our entire customer journey, from outreach to closing to long-term strategic advising.  The ride is going to be both exciting and unpredictable - you’ll want to be not just comfortable with but excited to tackle the opportunities and challenges ahead.

The opportunity

This is a pioneering commercial role. You are building the function, not joining it. You will be highly hands-on, responsible for the entire commercial process, starting with outbound prospecting, testing messaging, and securing wins . Once clients sign, you’ll stay with them as their strategic partner, ensuring they get massive value from the platform so they renew and expand.  You’ll have support from the Ops team and your other colleagues of course - but you’ll lead these critical external relationships.  As you succeed and build our growth path, you'll be directly responsible for scaling the team beneath you.  We anticipate hiring 6+ additional Account Executives and Customer Success Managers in your first year, so we'll be looking to you to lead that hiring, shape the culture, and develop the people.

The details - what you’ll own

  • 0-to-1 Revenue Generation: Manage the full end-to-end sales cycle. You are our pathfinder for new markets.
  • Customer Success & Account Management: Be the strategic advisor for the clients you close. Drive their onboarding, ensure adoption, secure renewals, and identify expansion opportunities.
  • Build the Team & System: Establish scalable sales and onboarding processes, build out our CRM from scratch, and own the hiring, onboarding, and development of the AEs and CSMs you'll need to execute at scale.
  • Voice of the Customer: Act as the ultimate bridge between our clients and the product team.

The must-haves:

  • Demonstrated B2B experience spanning Sales, Business Development, or highly commercial Customer Success.
  • Full-lifecycle capability: You can close complex deals, but also have the emotional intelligence to retain and grow those accounts.
  • Early-stage DNA: Demonstrated success building GTM processes from scratch.
  • Deep industry fluency: A strong understanding of the PR, Corporate Comms, or Public Affairs landscape.
  • Enthusiastic team player.  We’re planning to grow together for a long time; we care deeply about our team values and culture and are looking for team members who do too.
  • People leadership: A track record of hiring, coaching, or mentoring sales talent, or a clear, demonstrable appetite to do so at scale for the first time.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary range: $120,000–$150,000 annually assessed on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
  • This role is eligible for variable compensation (e.g., commissions tied to new business, renewals, and expansions), subject to the terms of applicable incentive plans.
  • Lancea is early-stage, which means you'll help shape the culture and direction of the company. Current benefits include a competitive salary, 401(k), flexible schedule, and unlimited paid time off, with more to come as we scale.

How to apply

Lancea builds groundbreaking AI-powered tools, but - as emphasized in our organizational values - we are a people-centered company.

To apply, please send us your CV and a couple of paragraphs about how our values would intersect with your approach to this job.  No need to send a cover letter or anything else.  Someone on our team will read your materials - so please write them yourself, and tailor them to human readers, not keyword scanners.  We’ll also ensure that your personally identifiable information is redacted before any hiring managers see it.  We're a small team so it might take some time, but you will hear from us either way.  Keep in mind that in order to ensure all applicants receive due consideration, we may have to close the opening early depending on response - so please consider submitting your materials before the posted deadline.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
